This collection is called The Forgotten Tea Party. It includes four different teapots, each with two teacups that match the design of its teapot. I chose to make these teapots because I was inspired by how many different ways a teapot could be made and how many different shapes they could be. This made me want to try them out for myself and discover what I could create. I wheel threw each pot and teacup. All the handles are thrown except for the braided handles which are hand built. All the spouts are also hand built. The multi-colored teapots set is colored with underglaze and the thick bright colors are bold and attention grabbing. The braided handle set is my favorite, the glaze is simple but the handles take the set to the next level. For the flowered and blue streaked peice, I dipped the pieces in white glaze and painted the designs on top. The flower one is very spherical and light with the flower design to give a soft feel. The shape of the blue streaked teapot is very unique and the swirls of glaze match that feel. This body of work shows the often forgotten aspect of life that we are all people but we are different from each other in every other way. Just as these teapots are all teapots but they all have different shapes and designs and colors. The only thing uniting them is the fact that they are teapots but besides that, each one is unique and stands out from the others.
Mugs 3 Ways
This collection is my favorite thing I created this season. I was chalanged to make three diffrent mugs and went out and wheel threw the base of a "bubble mug" and the yellow cow print mug. I then hand built the black mug and braided the handle and added it to the base. All the handles were handbuilt and were added after being thrown. I then glazed the bubble mug in a dark blue and grean and hand painted the yellow cow print. i finished by dipping the black braded mug in black glaze and was overal very happy with these mugs.
